The directions: Find an equation y-k=a(x-h)[sup:2tq95v5y]2[/sup:2tq95v5y] for each parabola described.

How do I start??? :?: :?: :?: Problem one is:

Vertex (4, -3); contains (2, -1)

What do "h" and "k" stand for? How do 4 and 3 relate?

If (2, -1) is a point on the curve, will the equation be "true" or "false" if you plug 2 in for x and -1 in for y?

If you do this plug-n-chug (with 4, 3, 2, and -1), what do you get?

If you get stuck, please reply showing your work and reasoning so far. Thank you! :D
