the number of US households estimated to pay at least one bill on line each month during the years 2000-2006 can be modeled by the polynomial function

p(X)= 0.808x^2 + 0.502
where x corresponds to the year 2000 ect.

a. Why does this equation represent a function?
b. What is the independent value?
c. What is the dependent value?
d. Write the domain in interval notation
e. Write the range in interval notation

a. Why does this equation represent a function?

This is a quadratic function.

b. What is the independent value?

The independent VARIABLE is x.

c. What is the dependent value?

The dependendent VARIABLE is p(x).

d. Write the domain in interval notation

The domain is {x: x ? 0}

e. Write the range in interval notation

The range is {p(x): p(x) ? 0.502}

What is the degree of the polynomail?
what is the constant?
what is the degree of the constant?
is this function a linear or quadratic?
how many househols will pay a bill on line in 2005
