Hi,

I'm stuck  I'm trying to evaluate : 5-7(-2)-16 divided by 8 and I'm getting stuck when it comes to multiplication. the next line should be 5 - (-14) -2 and I'm not sure how we got -14?

The order of operation states that you should do the multiplication first, from left to right, then your addition & subtraction. Therefore you should have 5-(7*-2)-16. This is then 5-(-14)-16 which is 5+14-16. ( I am assuming it is supposed to be 16/8 since you said the last term was -2) Just remember that you must multiply the terms together before you attempt to add.
