How did you get "df/dr = (2A - 3Br)/r3" for your derivative?holmdeal said:For positive constants A and B, the force between the two atoms in a molecule is given by f(r) = A/r2 + B/r3, where r > 0 is the distance between the two values. What value of r minimizes the force between the atoms?
I figured that since it is optimization for f(r), I'd need to find the derivative and set it to zero, but...I then get (2A-3Br)/r^3=0, but from there I have no idea what to do
