I have a function:

C = 20,000*y*exp^(-y/10)
y>0

I'm trying to find the value of y that maximizes C. I know the answer is y = 10, but I can't seem to get there. Please help. Thanks.

A good start would be to differentiate. How far have you gotten in this process?

Thank you.

Actually, that's what I'm trying to do -- differentiate -- but haven't been able to set it up. I'm having trouble with the exp rules.

The derivative of ef(x) is f'(x)ef(x).
