Hello, Kim!

How much fuel that sells for $1.25/gallon must be mixed with 180 gallons that sells for $2.00/gallon
to obtain a mixture that sells for $1.55/gallon?

I know i can say that x = gallons of $1.25 fuel,
and: x(1.25) + 180(2.00) = something?
You're certainly on your way . . .

The "something" is the total value of the mixture.

There will be (x + 180) gallons of mixture, worth $1.55/gallon.
. . Total value: .1.55(x + 180)

And you already have an expression for the total value: .1.25x + 180(2.00)

And there is your equation: .125.x + 180(2.00) .= .1.55(x + 180)

[Edit: too fast for me, apm!]

thanks!

Awesome! i understand now, thank you both so much!
