(r^-2/[s^5])^3 = r^-6/s^15
text book says answer is :r^6s^15
why are they side by side instead on top of one another ?

Are you sure that is what your book says? How about 1/[r^6s^15]?

Notice that r^-6 has changed to r^6. The sign on the exponent changes when the term is moved from the numerator to the denominator (and vice versa).
 


The answer in your book is incorrect.

wjm11 posted the correct answer.

All math textbooks contain errors because these books are produced by humans. 8-)
