One farmer has 119 sheep and another has 73.After they each sell the same mumber of sheep, one is left with three times as many sheep as the other. How many sheep did each sell.

The answer is 50 sheep.
Please i need the workings as soon as possible. Thanks.

Can we hurry up and do this please.

My thoughts are that i think the equation is 119-x =3x and 73-x=x
Where x is thr subtracted number.

Then

119 - x = 3 * (73 - x)

Solve for 'x'

This is your problem - so you need to hurry up and do this!!!

Solution posted by OP:

119-x=3(73-x)
119-x=219-3x
119-219=-3x+x
-100=-2x
x=-100 divided by -2
=50
