I found a question on another site (near the bottom of the page) that says:

Of the lions at the zoo, 13 eat zebra meat, 11 eat giraffe meat, and 7 eat both. How many lions are there in the zoo?
The explanation for the solution tells you to add the ones that eat zebras to the ones that eat giraffe, and then subtract out the ones that eat both. However, couldn't that question also mean that in addition to the ones that eat zebra and giraffe, there are 7 that eat both types of meat?

If the question had said that there were thirteen that eat zebra meat ONLY and eleven that eat giraffe meat ONLY, then, yes, it could have meant that. But, as written, it means just what the explanation said.
