Hello. Can you help me understand how I would solve this? The equation is for graphing (which I get) but I have a very hard time understanding what to do with negative numbers and fractions. I need to solve: y = (-1/4x)-2 (thats y equals negative one quarter x minus two) I understand that I can solve for y by first setting x = 0 but then I am lost. I will need to plot two more points after the first one, so x might equal 2 and then x=6. What do I do with a negative one quarter times 6 and then I subtract two (-1/4 * 6)-2? Thank you for your help!

\(\displaystyle (-\frac{1}{4} \cdot 6)-2 \ \ = \ \ -\frac{3}{2} - 2 \ \ = \ \ -\frac{3}{2} \ \ - \ \ \frac{4}{2} \ \ = \ \ \frac{ -3 \ - 4}{2} \ \ = \ \ -\frac{7}{2}\)

\(\displaystyle y \ = \ \frac{-x}{4}-2, \ note \ m \ = \ -\frac{1}{4}and \ y \ intercept \ = \ -2\)

\(\displaystyle Ergo, \ start \ at \ (0,-2) \ and \ go \ down \ 1, \ right \ 4, \ or \ up \ 1, \ left \ 4, \ or \ do \ both, \ connect \ the\)

\(\displaystyle two/three \ points \ and \ you \ are \ done.\)

\(\displaystyle See \ graph.\)
