needing help with solving equations with fractions

I have to solve this equation:

. . .(x + 1) / 3 + (x + 2) / 7 = 2

It's been a long time since I last did algebra, so I could use some help in figuring this out. Thank you for your help!
 
You do these like any other fraction.

You could multiply by the common denominator, that would be 21.
because 7*3=21

\(\displaystyle \L\\21\cdot\frac{x+1}{3}+21\cdot\frac{x+2}{7}=21(2)\)

\(\displaystyle \L\\7(x+1)+3(x+2)=42\)
 
Thank you so much for your help. That makes since. I guess with the one number being on the bottom through me for a loop!
