I have no idea how to do this problem. My teacher told me to factor it first and then use the quadratic equation but I have not been able to factor this problem at all. Here's the problem: 24x^2-36x-15=0

Please help me!!!

Did you notice that all of the coefficients are divisible by 3?

Divide both sides of the given equation by 3, and that will reduce all of the coefficients.

Now, if your teacher actually asked you to factor first, and then use the Quadratic Formula, I think your teacher misspoke.

(Unless, you're telling us that you need to solve the equation twice, using two different approaches. I'm not sure.)

If you want to use the Quadratic Formula, don't factor the polynomial.

If you want to solve by first factoring the polynomial, then finish by applying the Zero-Product Property.

After you divide both sides by three, there are different methods for factoring what results. Check out THIS lesson, which uses boxes to organize the work.

Please try, and then show us what you get.
