Solve the formula for the given variable

A=3s^2 solve for s
divide by 3 to get s^2 alone

A/3 = s^2
Then I get the sqrt of each side
sqrt of A/3 = s

Is this the correct way to solve for s?

sqrt of (A/3) = s

Is this the correct way to solve for s? Yes - after inclusion of parenthesis.

Depending on your teacher, he/she may not want a fraction under the radical sign. Also, again depending on prior instructions, a plus or minus sign might be required preceding the radical sign.
