These are actually not my problems. I have a friend from Johannesburg that needs help. He says his teacher is not that good at explaining. So help him out with a couple of these please.....................

Solve for x and y

1.) y= 3x+5
y= x+1

2.) 2x+3y=9
2x-y=3

3.) 4x+5y=23
3x-3y= -3

4.) y=-2x+1
3x-4 = 4

It is too bad that we do not know what is wanted.

Are they parellel or perpendicular?
Is there a solution to the system?
Other?

Please have your friend sign up and reply to this thread, providing the complete instructions for each of these exercises. When you speak with him, please direct him to show all of his steps and reasoning, so we can see where he is having difficulty.

Thank you.

Eliz.
