Hello.... Can anyone help me? I am not in school anymore and would like a date from a girl that has an online profile question. Please allow me to quote... "if you can't figure out this equation, please do not read on... 1/3x=5...".

Can anyone help me with my love life? lol

The question is...

1/3x=5

I guess, solve for x.... right? (Been a while since my school days).

Suppose you have some money to spend on a date...you spend $5 and that was 1/3 of the money you had available. How much did you have?

Perhaps, you should first verify that she knows what she's talking about.

If she thinks that her typing represents 1/(3x) = 5, then you might want to share your life with somebody else. :wink:

Her typing actually represents (1/3)x = 5.

In other words, her typing might be ambiguous.

In the former case, x is in the denominator; in the latter case, it's not.

What if we give you the answer, you then give it to her and get a date, she thinks you're good at math,
and the 1st question she asks on the date is: if 2x + 3x / 2 = 14, what is x ?
