9=5+2v
-5-5

4=2v
4/2=2v/2

2=v

You wanted the "v" by itself. First, you isolated the term with the "v" by adding/subtracting to get rid of any unnecessary terms. Then you finished by dividing off whatever factors of the term with the "v" were not the "v".

Now do the same thing with your exercise. The only difference will be that you won't be able to simplify as much, because of the other variables. :wink:
