I was given the problem 2cos2 x - cos x = 1 and was told to find all values of x between 0 and 360.

ok so the thing that threw me off was the second cos in the equation.. am i supposed to factor this?

how do i start?

If you do, then you have cos x(2cos x - 1) =1
Now you have a product of two factors that equals 1. What can the factors be?
Have you been studying your algebra?

What would you do if it were
2 x2 - x - 1 = 0
