Notice that your denominators are: 7x, 7, and 7. The LCM is 7x. Therefore, multiply both sides of the equation by 7x:

(7x)(3/(7x) + 4/7) = (7x)(-8/7)

(7x)(3/(7x)) + (7x)(4/7) = (7x)(-8/7)

3 + 4x = -8x

Voila! No more fractions to deal with.
