The standard multiplication algorithm is to multiply each piece from one by each piece from the other. 123 = 100 + 20 + 3 546 = 500 + 40 + 6 Multiplying, then 100*500 + 100*40 + 100*6 + 20*500 + 20*40 + 20*6 + 3*500 + 3*40 + 3*6 This should look familiar. Same thing for: (2x-3)(x+3) (2x)(x) + (2x)(3) + (-3)(x) + (-3)(3) It's just multiplication. Don't let it scare you.
