My teacher gave us a study guide to study for our final. I'm having trouble with the following problems. I know there's a lot but if anyone can help me with any of them it would be much appreciated. I've done them all and the ones with an asterick I think I got right and the other ones I'm pretty sure I got wrong, lol. Anyway, again any help would be very appreciated. Thanks everyone and great forum!!!!! :)

Solve the following systems of equations

*1a. 6x + 3y = -1
9x + 5y = 1

1b. 4x + y -2z = 0
2x - 3y + 3z = 9
-6x - 2y + z = 0

Solve each of the following equation

*2a. I4x - 3I + 2 = 11
(absolute value)

2b. 2x - 3 = 2(x - 3)

4. Line L contains the point (5, -3) and has a graph parallel to the graph of 2x - 5y = 10. Find the equation for L.

Simplify the following expressions

*5a. (4x^2)(-3x^3)^2
______________
(12x^-2)^2

5b. (6x^2 - 3x + 2) - (4x^2 + 2x - 5)

Reduce the following to the lowest term

*8a. x^2 - x - 6
_________
x - 3

8b. 2y^3 - 9y^2 - 17y + 39 (2 methods) long division
___________________
2y - 3

Simplify the following to the lowest term

9a. x^3 - 1 x^2 - 1
______ x __________
x^4 - 1 x^2 + x + 1

Solve the following equations

10a. 5 = 4
____ ____
y + 1 y + 2

10b. 4 + 1 = 2
________ _____ _________
x^2 - x -12 x^2 - 9 x^2 - 7x + 12

Thanks again!!

Well, start by showing us how you did the 1st one.

And post in clearer fashion; example:

10a. 5 = 4
____ ____
y + 1 y + 2
Post it like this:

5 / (y + 1) = 4 / (y + 2)

4. Line L contains the point (5, -3) and has a graph parallel to the graph of 2x - 5y = 10. Find the equation for L.

Please show all your work on all the problems you have attempted.

Since the lines are to be parallel, you need to find the slope of the line 2x - 5y = 10. To find this slope, rearrange the equation into slope-intercept form.

Next, use this slope and the given point, (5, -3), to write the new line equation in point-slope form.

(Look up the slope-intercept and point-slope forms in your book for review as necessary.)

That’s all there is to it. Hope that helps.
