A walker travels a distance of 5.1 miles. How many inches did the walker travel? (1 mi = 5280. ft) (1 ft = 12 in)

The correct answer is 43.2 x 105.

I know how to convert the miles to inches but I just don't understand how it went from 323,136 inches to that answer.

Why do you think 43.2 x 105 is the correct answer? It clearly isn't. And I can't see any reason they might multiply the correct answer by 13.4 if they were answering a different question.

Your answer of

5.1 miles = 3.23136*105 inch

is correct

Yeah thanks for the clarification. It was on one of my test today and that was the correct answer on the test according to my teacher. It was online so I didn't get to ask him about it yet but I'm going to tell him that it is incorrect.
