Hi, I am stuck on this one quadratics word problem. "An airplane flies between two cities that are 3200 km apart. It takes 20 minutes longer to make the trip against a headwind of 40km/hr than it does normally in still air. What is the normal airspeed of the plane? How long does the trip take with a 40km/hr headwind?" Can anyone make a solvable equation out of it? Thanks!

What happens to the "ground-speed" of the airplane while flying against a head-wind (as opposed to in still air)?

To learn the basic methodology for this sort of exercise (so the second reply you received makes any sense), try working through the second (and maybe the third) example on this page. ;)
