need help solving equation 0.17 = x + 1.5(0.12 - x)

I would appreciate some help solving in the following equation:

. . .0.17 = x + 1.5(0.12 - x)

Can anyone explain the steps to solve? The answer is supposed to be "x = 0.02".
 
This is just a linear equation, the same as all the others you've solved. If the decimals make you uncomfortable, multiply through by 1000 to get:

. . . . .170 = 1000x + (10)(1.5)(100)(0.12 - x)

. . . . .170 = 1000x + 15(12 - 100x)

Then solve by the usual methods.
