One way to determine whether or not an argument is valid is to construct its "truth table". That is assign all possible combinations of "true" or "false" to the variables, M, C, B, and H, and determine whether, in each combination, the "hypotheses imply conclusion" statement is true or false. The argument is valid if and only if, in each combination, that statement is true. There are, of course, \(\displaystyle 2^4= 16\) such combinations.
