Suppose two lines intersect at the point (x, y). Then this point must lie on both lines, so x and y must satisfy both equations.
Equation [1] : y=3x+1
Equation [2] : y=4x+7
Remember, the point must be satisfied in both equations.
Either y=y or x=x . . .
If you start with y=y , then you'll find x and then replace this x in one of the equations you've got.
So , : 3x + 1 = 4x + 7
. . . . . : 4x - 3x = 7 - 1 -----> x=6
By replacing it , y = 3(6) + 1 = 19=y .
