Need help finding a variable in terms of other variables

I see it!
S = 2LH + 2LW + 2WH

Just kidding. I presume you mean to SOLVE the equation for 'W'.

S = 2LH + 2LW + 2WH

Factor it out (Distributive Property of Multiplication over Addition)

S = 2LH + (2L + 2H)*W

Subtract 2LH from both sides

S - 2LH = (2L + 2H)*W

Divide by (2L + 2H)

What do you get?

that looks like a geometry problem

:) Heh, it does, with L, H, and W. I can assure you, this is for an algebra class. :wink:

Thanks a lot, tkhunny! I really appreciate it.
