to multiply two fractions:
(4/5)(3/4)
first multiply the numerators
4x3=12
Next multiply the denominators
5x4=20
Now the product of the Numerators is your new numerator, the products of the denominator are your new denominator
12/20
Finally reduce to simplest terms
12/20 = 6/10 = 3/5
3/5 is your final answer
to divide two fractions:
(4/5)/(3/4)
Notice that when dividing you make a new fraction with 4/5 as the numerator, and 3/4 as your denominator.
First flip the denominator of your new fraction and then multiply as in the example above. Like so:
(4/5)(4/3)
4x4= 16
5x3= 15
(4/5)/(3/4)= 16/15
