Let H = number of highways miles driven.
Let C = number of city miles drive.

His trip was 400 miles: .H + C .= .400

He drove H highway miles, using H/30 gallons of gas.
He drove C city miles, using C/25 gallons of gas.
He used a total of 14 gallons of gas: .H/30 + C/25 .= .14

Now solve the system of equations . . .
