represent the interval where both functions are on the number line provided.
f(x)=|3x|+3
g(x)=-x^2+8x-5
only gives me a number line between -5 and 5

I do not understand the wording of the problem very well.

I would start with:

Can you plot those two functions - on same grid?

Where do they intersect?

What does that tell you?

I agree with Mr Kahn, your question makes no sense.
Did you look at the GRAPHS ?
Once you do, perhaps you will clarify the question.

In order to receive help on this forum you need to post a clear problem AND show your work. Our basic policy is no work = no help.

First I suspect that be given a number line between -5 and +5 is meaningless (or at least should be meaningless). The line is really from -infinity to +infinity.
I think that the problem is asking you which values do f(x) and g(x) have in common. So you should compute the range of f(x) and g(x) and see which numbers are in common.
