We don't like to try guessing what you mean. You often can't make it clear trying to duplicate what it looks like on a worksheet, even using the code button. It seems you would have written x³ as
3
x^
I am saying the correct way is
x^3
on one line. That is the standard way and what we are used to.
You must have some idea how to at least get started on some of them. We need to see what you do know so we know what you need help on.
You say 2x+3=19
Don't you know how to solve that?

Gene
You really should try going to class or reading your book. Some of them are too easy for you to say you don't know ANYTHING if you do either of those two things
2x+3=19
Subtract 3 from each side
2x=16
Divide each side by 2
x=8
Substitute 8 for x in
5x - 1/2
5(8)-1/2
40-1/2
39 & 1/2
Simplify:
3x^4- 5x^3 - x-2(x^3 - 3x + 4)
multiply each factor in ()s by -2
3x^4 -5x^3 - x -2x^3 +6x - 8
Gather like terms
3x^4 -5x^3-2x^3 +6x-x - 8
3x^4 -7x^3 +5x - 8
Does the word FOIL mean any thing to you?

(3x-5)(7x-5)
F 3x*7x=21x^2
O 3x*-5 = -15x
I -5*7x = -35x
L -5*-5 = 25
Put them together for
21x^2-50x+25
Notice the new ()s. You need them to show where the exponent ends.
w^(-1)t^(-3)s
--------------
w^(-2)s^(4)t^(3)
When you move them across the vinculum the exponent sign changes
