Ok here is the original problem: m = 2/3 , (5, -2)

What I have done so far:

y - (-2) = (2/3)(x - 5)
y + 2 = 2/3x + 2

So I am not sure what to do next.

Thank you.

Didn't you post an almost-identical question just a day ago?

You were told then to make sure you multiplied BOTH terms inside the parentheses on the right side by the slope:

y - (-2) = (2/3)(x - 5)
y + 2 = (2/3)*x - (2/3)*5

Now...can you take it from there?

And what does it matter if I did or not? You know before making smart alec remarks maybe you should know what the persons knowledge area is first. Not all of us are as smart as you all. Some of us are having an extrememly hard time figuring this out. I have not been in school for over 40 years and I have NEVER had algebra. So try putting your feet in my shoes and see how hard it can be. I am almost 60 years old and just started this algebra stuff. Marbe it is easy for you. I have tried 5 times to pass a unit review. Just because a question is similar just means that I haven't mastered it yet and am still having trouble. So maybe you need to think twice before you type remarks like that.

If a similarly worked out problem does not help you - you need face-to-face tutor.

May be this algebra stuff does not suit your learning style - may be you ought to try something else (instead of trying to fit your shoes on our feet)

Take it easy, buddy. Do you always so easily feel "attacked"?

You were told this when you submitted your 1st post (Mar 7th):

>We can help you through specific problems.
>We have only volunteers, here, who wander by when they have the time. It really isn't possible to teach full and
>useful lessons. If this format doesn't fit your current needs, we are sorry, but until we start paying people,
>that's what we have. When you are ready, we'll be glad to discuss those specific problems with you.
>When you come back, and one of our volunteers asks you a question, just answer the question.
>We are not ever trying to insult you or to be obtuse. It may sound like a silly question, whatever it might be,
>but just answer it honestly. We will be able to help on this basis.

Perhaps you didn't read it yet?

You posted after:
Mar 8th: m = 8/9, (6,-2)
Mar 9th: m = 2/3, (5,-2)
...and we're not suppose to wonder why?

A google search would have given you many sites; like:
http://www.purplemath.com/modules/strtlneq2.htm
At that site, a FULL explanation of slope-point is given.

Take it easy, buddy. Do you always so easily feel "attacked"? NO I don't.

But when someone comes here for help and the only thing they are concerned about is whether or not you posted something similar. So who cares? What difference does it make? And who cares if they are paid or volunteer? So you all can just get off your high horse. Just because you are smarter than I am doesn't mean that I have to sit here and take this kind of crap. This site was recommended to me by one of the moderators. So I tried it out and so far all I got was smart ass comments. So as far I am concerned you can take this site and shove it. You all are to damn stuck up. I don't need your kind of help. So don't bother to answer this cause I won't be back to read it. Just delete me.

If you all are here to help people then you need to keep your smart ass comments to yourself. And if you can't do that then you don't need to be on here. It does no one good to belittle them. I guess since you are so smart you just can't see it.

The word "to" highlighted in red above is a preposition. You really meant to use the adverb "too".

I'm just sayin...

Boy oh boy. In his 1st post, he stated this:
"...and the teacher sits on his butt unless you ask him questions."

Wonder why he doesn't yell at his teacher instead of yelling here...
