Natural logarithm

Hello

I have a equation which uses Natural Logarithm.Unfortunately i am not too good with Natural Logarithm and am querying why it is used for this equation.

The equation is performed using Excel.It takes the Natural Logarithm of the Temperature x Flow Rate plus a couple of set parameters - Excel equation is as follows

=((LN(A4/10)* -0.612)+.456)*A5 - A4 is the Temperature and C5 is the Flowrate

What is the purpose of Natural Logarithm in this part of the equation
