Describe how the graph of y=-6x^2 changes from the parent graph of y=x^2. Name the vertex of each graph.

The vertex for y=-6x^2 is (0,0).

And the vertex for y=x^2 is (0,0).


The graph did not change.

Please let me know what I did wrong.

The leading coefficient is not considered.

+1 Opens up and the vertex is a minimum

-6 Opens down and the vertex is a maximum, also, it moves faster.

Check at x = 1

1^2 = 1 <== This moved up 1 for a horizontal movement of 1.
-6*1^2 = -6 <== This move down 6 for a horizontal movement of 1.
