(T + 6)÷ 5 = (t + 2) ÷ 10

I am in 7th grade and i am unsure how to set the problem up to solve it.

Hi. You may type a forward slash to show division:

(T + 6)/5 = (t + 2)/10

The first step is to "clear the fractions".

You need to multiply both sides of the equation by a number that both 5 and 10 divide into evenly. That way, the denominators will cancel.

The smallest such number is called the Least Common Multiple (LCM) of 5 and 10. Do you know what the LCM of 5 and 10 is?
