Multiplying and Dividing Monomials: (a/b5)3*

I am taking Online Courses so i kind of have to explain things to myself. When we learned about Monomials i was completely lost. i dont understand ANYTHING associated with them. heres an example----

(a/b5)3 * :? *the 3 and the 5 are exponents*

how am i supposed to solve that??!!! :?: can someone please try to explain this to me an a way i will understand :wink:

As for your problem...
\(\displaystyle \left(\frac{a}{b^5}\right)^3\)

First, there is nothing to solve. This is an expression, rather than an equation. I guess you want it simplified.
You need to apply one of the rules or possibly two, depending on the instructions.
\(\displaystyle \left(\frac{a^x}{b^y}\right)^z = \frac{a^{xz}}{b^{yz}}\)

\(\displaystyle \frac{1}{a^x}=a^{-x}\)
