I'm supposed to determine if the following two functions are inverses of one another by exhibiting the appropriate algebraic test.

f(x) = 1/ x + 1 & g(x) = 1 - x/x

I think I'm supposed to use the formula f(g(x)) = 1
I honestly don't know where to start here.

Any pointers?

How about plugging g(x) into f(x), simplifying, and seeing what you get?

Eliz.

The property of inverses is f(g(x)) = x. I don't know where you got "= 1".

You can't mean that definition of g(x).

Away from x = 0, g(x) = 1 - x/x = 1 - 1 = 0!!

Perhaps you mean g(x) = (1-x)/x?

OK, now plug it in.

I will give that a try and let you know how it turns out.

Thank you so much for your help!
I'll post the results.
