[MOVED] substitution or elimination: which method to use?

1) Solve the system:

. . .2x - 4y = -2
. . .4x + 8y = 0

2) Solve the system:

. . .x - 2y = 9
. . .3x + 2y = -5

I'm not asking for the solution, or even all of the steps. Just please tell me which method I should use: substitution or elimination?

Once I know that, I'm pretty sure I can do the rest myself. Thank you!

First simplify.

2x - 4y = -2 and 4x + 8y = 0

goes to

x - 2y = -1 and x + 2y = 0

Much simpler.

Use any method at your disposal unless you are required to do otherwise.
