Find the reference angles @ ("theta") for the angles listed below, and find the quadrants in which the angles lie. In addition, show all your steps for deriving your answers.

1. @ = 50 degrees
2. @ = 120 degrees
3. sin(270 degrees)
(Hint: Use the nature of even and odd functions to help you find the exact values.)

4. cot 7pi over 4
(Hint: The the periodic properites of the function to help you find the exact value.)
5. @ = 300 degrees
6. @ = -145 degrees
7. @ = -90 degrees

Please don't use "0" to mean something other than "0". That is very confusing.

50º ==> 50º It's already inthe first quadrant.

The reference angle is ALWAYS the smallest angle, without regard for direction, from the x-axis to the terminal ray.

120º ==> 60º It's 60º from the x-axis on the 180º side.

Okay, let's see where that leads you, if anywhere.

You seem to have missed the last sentence.

If you cannot do any work on your own, we cannot help you, here. You must RUN, do NOT walk, to your teacher locally. You will need some serious and significant help if you are to move on. From what I have seen today, i am not even a little encouraged.

You didn't read the instructions before posting, did you? I'll repeat a few sections form your benefit.

[beginning of instuctions you should have read]
Don't post a list of homework problems. Please show us any work you have done towards answering the problem, and try to explain what specifically is giving you trouble. Also, please try to limit the number of questions you ask to a reasonable number per day. There's no exact limit, but try to be polite and not abuse the service.

Preview or edit your posts for clarity. When composing your message, you may include formatting that doesn't "take" when the message is finally posted. For instance, the forum script strips away spaces at the beginnings of lines. Kindly "edit" your post to correct errors if they occur, and "preview" your posts to minimize errors. (For formatting advice, try Karl's Notes or "Formatting Math as Text".)

Show all of your work. If you've shown no work at all, the tutors may assume that you're needing help getting started, and may suggest only how to do the first step. Even if you're asking only about the very end of the solution process, still include all of your intermediate steps. Errors may have occurred earlier than you'd realized; correcting part (b) may clear up your confusion on part (d).
[end of instuctions you should have read]

Really, if you can be helped, we can do it, but it will take effort from you. If you have neither the time nor the gumption, no one can help you. If you want to waste your time arguing with me, rather than studying, you will not accomplish much.
