An economy depends on two basic products: coal and gas. In order to produce 1 unit of coal, one needs 0.4 units of coal and 0.5 units of gas. In order to produce 1 unit of gas, one needs 0.2 units of coal and 0.6 units of gas. What should the producction be in order to satisfy a final demand of 2 million units of coal and 4 million units of gas?

the answer is 11.43 million units of coal and 24.29 million units of gas. Ca someone help me set this problem up?

i) Pick variables for the unknowns. Define them clearly.

ii) Write an equation in terms of the coal needed.

iii) Write another equation in terms of the gas needed.

iv) Solve the system.

Please reply showing how far you have gotten in this process. Thank you.
