Great site! Thank you volunteers :D

I started Business calc this semester and my first set of problems are similar to this.

. . .y = (-5x + 4)/(10 - 5x)

Answer options:
A. Vertical asymptote at x=2; horizontal asymptote at v=5
B. Vertical asymptote at x=2; horizontal asymptote at y= -1
C. Vertical asymptote at x= -1; horizontal asymptote at y= 2
D. Vertical asymptote at x=2; horizontal asymptote at y= 1

Well, because we are not a homework service, please show us what you have tried to do.

what are you having trouble with? Have you tried anything?

Looking at the problem, if x=2 then your denominator is 0, that can't happen, thats means that there is a asymptote at x=2

so forget B & D
plug in the numbers for C

I get 2=9/15

thats obviously not true, therefore forget C.

The anwser must be A
