A plane is traveling at a rate of 640 mph. Its bearings 4 hours after departure from the airport are N 35°46' E.
How far North has the plane traveled at that time? How far east?

I don't even know how to begin this problem.

Re: Bearings Problem

If the plane is flying 640 mph, how far has it traveled in 4 hours?. That's just a simple d=rt.

Since the angle is 35.766 degrees, use your sine and cosine to find the distance east and north.

Where north is the y coordinate and east is the x-coordinate.

BTW, this is not calculus. I am going to move it to geometry and trig section. Okey-doke?.
