A tree is y feet tall. The angle of the elevation from a point x feet from the center of the base of the tree to the top of the tree is theta. In terms of x and theta, what is y? (The tree is standing bottom to top at the right angle of a triangle).

The possible answers are

a) x tan(theta)
b) x/ tan(theta)
c) x sin(theta)
d) x/ sin(theta)
e) x cos(theta)

I'm sorry I don't understand what you're asking. I am a parent who has never had Trig in her LIFE!

why then are you doing problems that you have no clue about?

what do you hope to gain from someone just providing the "answers"?

I recommend you seek out websites dealing with right triangle trigonometry and educate yourself.

So you're studying for the SAT...? It might be worth your while to investigate taking a class through a test-prep centre in your local area. In that way, you will gain the necessary direct instruction on the topics you seek.

Good luck!
