a flyer is to contain 50 square inches of printed matter, with 4-in margins at the top and bottom, and 2-inch margins on each side. what dimensions for the flyer would use the least paper?
 
Did you draw a diagram?.

x=width of print, y=height of print.

The area of the print is xy=50...........[1]

Therefore, the area of the whole paper is A=(y+8)(x+4)............[2]

Solve [1] for, say, y and sub into [2], then minimize.

With respect to the production run, there is not enough information to answer this question.

With respect to a single flyer, I get 9 inches by 18 inches. And you?
