My daughter is having a hard time with this. I am not much help. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Let x = year since 1900
Let y = number of deaths caused by automobile accidents in the given year in the U.S.

I. Write the equation for the Median-Median Line in slope-intercept form.

II. Use your Median-Median line to calculate the predicted value for each data
point. Then, calculate the residual for each data point. Complete the following
table. Be sure to find the sum of all residuals (is it close to zero?), and to find the
sum of all squared residuals.

They wanted a chart (with ten rows) of this

x (row 1) y (row 2) y-hat (row 3) r = y – y-hat )row 4) r2(row 5) I had to type in the word 'row' because the spacing didnt print right

Then the Sums: ____________________________________

III. Compute the root mean square error. What does the root mean square error
tell you?

Where are the data?

First thing to learn _

What is the definition of Median-Median line?

Please tell your daughter to answer the questions above (in red) and show her work indicating exactly where she is stuck - so that we know where to begin to help her.
