How do you change 40% in to a decimal. I know the answer, I forgot how to solve it.

You can think of the % sign as an operator that means "divide by 100".

40% = 40/100

Dividing by 100 is the same as shifting the decimal point two places to the left.

40.0 divided by 100 is 0.40

The decimal form of 40% is 0.4

The decimal form of 6% is 0.06

The decimal form of 17.5% is 0.175

The decimal form of 250% is 2.5
