I was wondering how do you find where two equations intersect on a coodinate plane?
For example, if one equation was p(x)=1/4(x[sup:25yp1486]3[/sup:25yp1486]-x[sup:25yp1486]2[/sup:25yp1486]-6x)
and the other equation's f(x)=-x, how do you go about finding where they intesect?

Substitution?

p(x)=1/4(x3-x2-6x)
f(x)=-x

These are functions. ON a coordinate plane, they may take this form:

y=1/4(x3-x2-6x)
y=-x

This more clearly suggests the symbtitution 1/4(x3-x2-6x) = -x

Note: PLease read some of the ehlps available on this site for formatting mathematics expressions. You have a good try, but it will have to be a little more clear in order to be comprehensible.
