Two machines are installed in a factory. Machine A can produce 1000 mroe parts ion an 8-hour day than machine B. Total output for both machines is 6,000 parts in 8 hours. How many parts per day can each machine produce?

I figured answer is Machine A = 3500, machine B = 2500. But need an uequation to prove this, if it is correct.
many thanks....

We can prove or disprove your answer.
If both of these are true, then your answer is correct:

2500 + 3500 = 6000 True or False?
3500 = 2500 + 1000 True or False?

But we also need an equation to prove this. To get you started, lets think about the number of parts the slower machine produces. We can call this number "n".

Now, tell me everything you know about "n". What do you know about the faster machine? Can you describe how fast it is in terms of "n"?

Can you tell me how many parts are produced total, in terms of "n"?
