Hi,

For a discrete mathematics course, I am writing a 10 page report on anything related to probability, statistics, set theory, mod n, or boolean algebra.

Does anyone know of any interesting topics that they know about or have written about?

any suggestions would be appreciated,

Thanks.

There are very many topics. My interests are in coding theory, and actually spans a couple of your subjects. Many things such as driver's lisences, UPC codes, data trasmission, password encryption, routing numbers all use "mod n" techniques. Use of primes, coprimes and theorems such Lagranges theorem are of big use as well. Its a great subject.

That is a great recommendation.
Ten pages on any mathematical topic seems long to me.
My Ph.D. thesis was 39 pages.

pka, may I ask, what was your doctoral thesis on?.

It involves a Riemann type sum that includes the Lebesque integral. It makes each derivative integrable and the sum agrees with the fundamental theorem. E.J. McShane had made one minor change to the definition that allowed the Lebesque Integral to be equivalent to his unified integral. What I did was explore how some topological properties could be used to make both definitions function together. It could have been listed as in topology or analysis.
