Good Evening, (new to site)

Can anyone please help I have a few math problems i cannot solve, I would appreciate some help if at all possible.

1. Which Statement is true?
1/2 > 1/3
1/5 > 1/3
1/5 >1/4
1/10 > 1/2


2. Needs 2 yards to build a shelf has a board 66inches. How much longer board is needed to build shelf?
4 inches
6 inches
1 foot
2 feet

3. For which situation is an exact answer appropriate?
- Finding the time to drive home form the library
- Finding the time it takes to do your math homework
- Finding the time it takes to wash the car
- Finding the time it took a runner to finish a race during Olympics

**** I say the last one but not sure

4. A scale reads 3 kilograms. Which object is most likely on the scale?
- adult
- eraser
- kitten
- sandwich

Please help!!!!!!! Thank you in advance!!!!

Unfortunately, question #2 seems to be mistyped so I do not fully understand your question. Otherwise, you should show your attempts for these questions so that effective help can be given.

For #1 though, you can convert these fractions to decimals and find a valid inequality. You can also use logic to think about the fractions (If I divide something into 3 parts, is the resultant part going to be smaller than the same thing divided into 2 parts?)

Huh. I'll try to help out with number 4. First, I'd like to say that I never remember having to do a question like that before! :)

I'll help by saying that usually a human is somewhere between 70-100kg. That said, use logic to determine which object might weigh the kg's listed.


Also, I think you're right about number 3. The time it takes to drive home from the library, do your math homework, or wash the car really doesn't require an EXACT number. However, a race during the olympics is a big deal, and most times the runners will be SO close in their times, that it is absolutely necessary to measure the time exactly.
