I do not understand how to do these questions,

Simplify with positive exponents. Evaluate where possible.

a) 3 to the exponent 0 over (-4) to the power of -2
b) (-81) to the power of 1 over 4

Simplify with positive exponents.

(-81) to the power of 1 over 4

I'm confused. The exponent above is already positive. Does your post contain typographical errors?

Also, you need to use the caret symbol (^) to show exponents, and you must use proper grouping symbols.

You did not type any grouping symbols; hence, your typing could represent any of the following.

3^0/[(-4)^(-2)]

[3^0/(-4)]^(-2)

[(-81)^1]/4

(-81)^(1/4)

Which of these are you trying to say? :?
